Q: HOW DO I SCHEDULE A BUTCHER APPOINTMENT?
A:
If you have animals that need to be processed, please call us at (570)-279-3574 and we will do our best to get you on our schedule. You can also fill out and submit the slaughter request form online.
If we cannot get you in the schedule on the date you request, we will add you to our waiting list and contact you as soon as space becomes available.
Because the slaughter schedule fills up quickly, we ask that customers plan at least 6 months in advance when scheduling animals. Please plan accordingly. Slaughter request form
Q: WHERE DO I UNLOAD MY LIVESTOCK?
A:
Upon arrival to Leona Meat Plant, please follow the signs to the drop-off area, located in the rear of the building.
Follow the posted humane handling guidelines when unloading and handling livestock.
Please sign-in on the clipboard located by the pens. You must include your name, contact details, and the pen number or tag number of your animals.
BEEF SHOULD GO IN THE LARGE PEN – SMALL ANIMALS IN THE NUMBERED SMALL PENS.
Q: WHEN DO I NEED TO GIVE CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS?

After processing, we hang beef for 7-10 days. Pigs/sheep hang for 5-7 days.
As such, we request that you submit cutting instructions within 5 working days of livestock dropoff (i.e. if you drop off Monday, we need beef cut sheets by the following Monday). If this will be a problem, let us know.
Take a look at our pork and beef cut charts and pig cut charts to get an idea of the cut options available.
You can fill out and submit the cut sheets online (just select from the drop down on our from Custom Cutting Page, or feel free to give us a call so we can discuss it with you!
Q: WHEN WILL MY PRODUCT BE READY FOR PICK UP?
A:
On average, we have product ready10-15 days (about 2 weeks) from the time it was dropped off at the facility. Please keep in mind that value-added product and plant volumes can increase processing times.
Once your product is ready, we will contact you. Please be prepared to pick up ALL of your products. We can hold it for a maximum of 2 weeks but will charge a daily storage fee if your product is here longer.
Q: HOW CAN I GET A CUSTOMIZED FARM LABEL ON MY PRODUCT?
A:
If you would like a private farm label applied to your product for retail sale, you can email us the logo/contact info and we will upload it to our scales. There is a $75.00 set up fee for this process. If you have any claims on the label (e.g. “Natural”, “Organic”,etc) it must first be approved by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), so please call for more information on this process.
